The character of this site comes from my commitment to provide no nonsense business advice, through my books, mentoring, coaching, presentations and consultancy services. The one thing I could not get when I needed it most! This site is based on real business experiences good and bad. Yes that's right mistakes have been made, but lessons learnt!
Since leaving the Armed Forces after a 13 year tour of duty, I have been directly involved in starting, developing rescuing, and selling businesses of all shapes and sizes. During this time I have held some of the most senior positions with companies in the UK and the US. These positions have spanned Technology businesses, Engineering, Telecommunications, Financial Services, Human Resources, Web Design companies, online retailers to name just a few.
I try to bring experience and innovation to help any business get over growing pains, succession issues, development, change, sales and marketing development, strategies and planning. It is my hope that you will see from the vast array of content on this site that I am passionate about the subject.
During my time in the armed forces, I completed five tours of duty and many qualifications which, by my own admission, gave me the confidence to try anything, but had no practical application! If pushed, I will invite you to ‘pull up a sandbag’, to listen to my war stories! I embarked, at the age of 32, into the business world, starting out as a salesman for a major UK bank. I operated out of several branches in Norfolk, England – after my first year in sales of financial services, I achieved 140% of target, putting me in the top 10% in the company.
After a short period with other companies, expanding my sales skills, I decided that it was time to go it alone as a business-owner.
So started my love affair with business and personal development.
Some 15 years later, I attributes my current success to all of the mistakes which I made with people-selection and leadership in the past; these increased my learning and my desire to drill further and further down into why people in business succeed – and why they fail!
My current business (coachmysales) has been designed to incorporate all of the things about which I am most passionate, including leadership coaching, sales coaching, strategic planning and personal development, as well as general business-planning and development for, in particular, the SME sector.
